THE WORD OF GOD – THE HOLY BIBLE

GOD FIRST SPOKE THE WORD

In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. John 1:1

And we also thank God constantly for this,
that when you received the word of God,
which you heard from us, you accepted it
not as the word of men but as what it really
is, the word of God, which is at work in
you believers. 1^st Thessalonians 2:13

Forever, O Lord, your word is firmly
fixed in the heavens. Psalms 119:89

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE
AUTHOR OF ALL SCRIPTURE

All Scripture is breathed out by God
and profitable for teaching, for reproof,
for correction, and for training in
righteousness. 2^nd Timothy 3:16

Long ago, at many times and in many
ways, God spoke to our fathers by the
prophets. Hebrews 1:1

And beginning with Moses and
all the Prophets, he interpreted to
them in all the Scriptures the things
concerning himself. Luke 24:27

For no prophecy was ever produced
by the will of man, but men spoke
from God as they were carried along
by the Holy Spirit. 2^nd Peter 1:21

JESUS WAS THE WORD IN THE FLESH

And the Word became flesh and dwelt
among us, and we have seen his glory,
glory as of the only Son from the Father,
full of grace and truth. John 1:14

Jesus said to him, I am the way,
and the truth, and the life. No
one comes to the Father except
through me. John 14:6

GOD’S WORD IS THE TRUTH

Sanctify them in the truth;
your word is truth. John 17:17

And you will know the truth, and
the truth will set you free. John 8:32

The sum of your word is truth, and
every one of your righteous rules
endures forever. Psalms 119:160

The words of the Lord are pure words,
like silver refined in a furnace on the
ground, purified seven times. Psalms 12:6

Of his own will he brought us forth by the
word of truth, that we should be a kind of
firstfruits of his creatures. James 1:18

GOD’S WORD IS ALIVE

For the word of God is living and active,
sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing
to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints
and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts
and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

The grass withers, the flower
fades, but the word of our God
will stand forever. Isaiah 40:8

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my
words will not pass away. Matthew 24:35

IT IS THE BOOK OF LIFE

It is the Spirit who gives life;
the flesh is no help at all. The
words that I have spoken to
you are spirit and life. John 6:63

But he answered, “It is written,
“‘Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from
the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4

Truly, truly, I say to you,
whoever hears my word and
believes him who sent me has
eternal life. He does not come
into judgment, but has passed
from death to life. John 5:24

IT GUIDES OUR SPIRITUAL LIFE

For we do not wrestle against
flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness
of this age, against spiritual
hosts of wickedness in the heavenly
places. Ephesians 6:12

Therefore take up the whole armor
of God, that you may be able to
withstand in the evil day, and having
done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:13

IT TEACHES US GOD’S WILL

For this is good and acceptable in the
sight of God our Savior, who desires
all men to be saved and to come to the
knowledge of the truth. 1^st Timothy 2:3

But be doers of the word, and not hearers
only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22

For whatever was written in former
days was written for our instruction,
that through endurance and through
the encouragement of the Scriptures
we might have hope. Romans 5:14

WE WORSHIP GOD BY READING HIS WORD

God is spirit, and those who worship him
must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:24

I have not departed from the commandment
of his lips; I have treasured the words of his
mouth more than my portion of food. Job 23:12

“Search from the book of the Lord,
and read: Not one of these shall fail;
Not one shall lack her mate. For My
mouth has commanded it, and His
Spirit has gathered them. Isaiah 34:16

But his delight is in the law of the
Lord, and on his law he meditates
day and night. Psalms 1:2

IT IS OUR SALVATION

And take the helmet of salvation,
and the sword of the Spirit, which
is the word of God. Ephesians 6:17

You search the Scriptures because
you think that in them you have
eternal life; and it is they that bear
witness about me. John 5:39

Like newborn infants, long for the
pure spiritual milk, that by it you
may grow up into salvation. 1^st Peter 2:2

For I am not ashamed of the gospel,
for it is the power of God for salvation
to everyone who believes, to the Jew
first and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16

IT BUILDS OUR FAITH

So then faith comes by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

For the word of the Lord is upright, and all
his work is done in faithfulness. Psalms 33:4

Above all, taking the shield of faith with
which you will be able to quench all the
fiery darts of the wicked one. Ephesians 6:16

GOD’S WORD HAS POWER

Behold, I have given you authority to tread on
serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of
the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Luke 10:19

Is not my word like fire, declares the
Lord, and like a hammer that breaks
the rock in pieces? Jeremiah 23:29

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord
and in the power of His might. Ephesians 6:10

IT TRANSFORMS US

Since you have been born again, not of perishable
seed but of imperishable, through the living and
abiding word of God. 1^st Peter 1:23

Already you are clean because of the word
that I have spoken to you. John 15:3

IT SANCTIFIES US

I have stored up your word in my heart, that
I might not sin against you. Psalms 119:11

Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant
wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted
word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21

IT GUIDES OUR PATH

Your word is a lamp to my feet and
a light to my path. Psalms 119:105

How can a young man keep his way pure? By
guarding it according to your word. Psalms 119:9

IT IS OUR COMFORTER

In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord; in the
night my hand is stretched out without wearying;
my soul refuses to be comforted. Psalms 77:2

The Lord will cause your enemies who rise
against you to be defeated before you. They
shall come out against you one way and flee
before you seven ways. Deuteronomy 28:7

IT IS OUR SHIELD

Every word of God proves true;
he is a shield to those who take
refuge in him. Proverbs 30:5

Of David. The Lord is my light and my
salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord
is the stronghold of my life; of whom
shall I be afraid? Psalms 27:1

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and
my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom
I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of
my salvation, my stronghold. Psalms 18:2

IT PROTECTS US FROM THE ENEMY (SATAN)

I write to you, fathers, because you know
him who is from the beginning. I write to
you, young men, because you are strong,
and the word of God abides in you, and you
have overcome the evil one. 1^st John 2:14

Put on the whole armor of God, that
you may be able to stand against the
wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11

The Lord will preserve him and keep
him alive, And he will be blessed on
the earth; You will not deliver him to
the will of his enemies. Psalms 41:2

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist
the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

IT GIVES US WISDOM

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly,
teaching and admonishing one another in
all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your
hearts to God. Colossians 3:16

And how from childhood you have
been acquainted with the sacred
writings, which are able to make you
wise for salvation through faith in
Christ Jesus. 2^nd Timothy 3:15

IT GIVES US KNOWLEDGE

When the Spirit of truth comes, he
will guide you into all the truth, for
he will not speak on his own authority,
but whatever he hears he will speak,
and he will declare to you the things
that are to come. John 16:13

IT GIVES US UNDERSTANDING

The unfolding of your words gives
light; it imparts understanding to
the simple. Psalms 119:130

Then he opened their minds to
understand the Scriptures. Luke 24:45

IT IS OUR HEALING

O Lord my God, I cried out to You,
And You healed me. Psalms 30:2

The Lord will strengthen him on
his bed of illness; You will sustain
him on his sickbed. Psalms 41:3

Bless the Lord, O my soul, And
forget not all His benefits: Who
forgives all your iniquities, Who
heals all your diseases. Psalms 103:2

IT BLESSES OUR LIFE

But he said, “Blessed rather
are those who hear the word of
God and keep it!” Luke 11:28

If you abide in me, and my words
abide in you, ask whatever you wish,
and it will be done for you. John 15:7

Blessed is he who reads and those
who hear the words of this prophecy,
and keep those things which are written
in it; for the time is near. Revelation 1:3

WE MEASURE OURSELVES BY HIS WORD

Do your best to present yourself to God
as one approved, a worker who has no
need to be ashamed, rightly handling
the word of truth. 2^nd Timothy 2:15

The one who rejects me and does
not receive my words has a judge;
the word that I have spoken will
judge him on the last day. John 12:48

Do not love the world or the things in the
world. If anyone loves the world, the love
of the Father is not in him. 1^st John 2:15

WE SEEK GOD’S WORD

Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his
presence continually! 1^st Chronicles 16:11

But seek first the kingdom of God and
His righteousness, and all these things
shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33

But from there you will seek the Lord
your God, and you will find Him if you
seek Him with all your heart and with
all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29

WE SHARE GOD’S WORD WITH OTHERS

But the word of the Lord remains forever.
And this word is the good news that was
preached to you. 1^st Peter 1:25

And he said to them, Go into all
the world and proclaim the gospel
to the whole creation. Mark 16:15
